چکیده
It was shown that in HIV-infected patients, pathomorphological changes the white matter form of demyelinization are already observed early stages disease. The most studied marker this process is myelin basic protein can be detected cerebrospinal fluid or serum immediately after acute breakdown.
aim. To assess diagnostic value content and individuals with 4th clinical stage central nervous system opportunistic infections.
Materials methods. Using ELISA kit “MBP ELISA” (Ansh Labs, USA), we 53 patients infections depending on its etiology, outcome diseases according to Glasgow coma scale score. As well correlation analysis some laboratory indicators performed.
Results. We found significantly increased both compared control (p˂0.01), which indicate presence active system. highest registered an unfavourable disease, as death residual neurologic deficit, cerebral toxoplasmosis. had association size lesions magnetic resonance imaging content.
Conclusions. Myelin detection serve additional quantitative disruption, used along for diagnosis improvement prognosis

Diagnostic Utility of Bone Marrow Sampling and Profile of Hematological Abnormalities in Indian HIV-infected Individuals
Background: Hematological abnormalities are a common complication of HIV infection and occur in all stages of the infection. These abnormalities increase as the disease advances. We aimed to evaluate the diagnostic utility of bone marrow sampling in HIV-positive patients. Methods: 40 HIV-infected individuals were screened for hematological abnormalities. Investigations such as iron studies, he...
متن کاملProspective and Retrospective Memory Complaints in HIV-Infected Individuals
Background and purpose: Deficits of retrospective memory (RetM) and prospective memory (ProM), which are two primary components of episodic memory, have been reported in prior studies in HIV-infected individuals. The present study aimed to further elucidate the characteristics of prospective and retrospective memory complaints in HIV-infected individuals. Materials and Methods: We recruited 50...
متن کاملSerum and Saliva Myelin Basic Protein as Multiple Sclerosis Biomarker
Objective: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is presented with motor and sensory function loss. It is caused by demyelination and following axonal lesion. As myelin basic protein (MBP) is one of the key elements of the myelin cover, we examined the level of MBP in serum, stimulated, and unstimulated saliva as a suitable biomarker for detecting MS. Methods: A case-control study was performed in 29 health...
متن کاملEosinophilia: clinical significance in HIV-infected individuals.
This study was conducted to determine the relationship between eosinophilia and parasitic infection in HIV-infected individuals. HIV-positive patients attending an HIV clinic in Birmingham were recruited and classified as either eosinophilic (>400 eosinophils/mm(3)) or non-eosinophilic. A demographic and parasitic risk history was taken and clinical examination was performed. Urine and stool we...
